ACTOR IN GREEK MYTHOLOGY
Actor in Greek Mythology
Actor was a relative common name in Greek mythology, Actor being the name of many minor characters. The most famous Actor in Greek mythology though, is arguably King Actor of Phthia.
King Actor of Phthia
Actor was named as the son of Myrmidon and Pisidice, Actor was thus a grandson of Zeus, and brother to Antiphus, Eupolemia and Hiscilla.
Actor was also named as King of Phthia in Thessaly, probably succeeding his father to the throne.
It was said by some that it was in the time of King Actor that Peleus came to Phthia. Peleus was seeking absolution for he had been exiled from his father, Aeacus’ Aegina kingdom; Peleus having killed his own stepbrother, Phocus.
It was said by the same sources that Actor was so taken by Peleus, that he willing absolved the prince and then gave him a third of his own kingdom. Peleus would then become the king of all Phthia when Actor died.
Some sources though, tell of Peleus coming to Phthia in the time of Actor’s son, King Eurytion, with Peleus marrying Eurytion’s daughter Antigone.
