THE OCEANID ELECTRA IN GREEK MYTHOLOGY
The Oceanid Electra
Electra was the name given to one of the Oceanids, the nymph daughters of Oceanus. Electra would become famous as the wife of Thaumas, and as the mother of Iris and the Harpies.
Electra was an Oceanid, one of the 3000 daughters of Oceanus and Tethys. Some also specifically say that Electra was a Nephelae, a cloud and rain nymph.
This link to the clouds and rain would be important after Electra was married to the sea-god Thaumas, for this marriage brought forth children, in the form of the goddess Iris, goddess of the Rainbow, and the Harpies, tormentors of men.
