OTHER GODS AND GODDESSES
Whilst most of the important Greek gods and goddesses fall into one of the three major groupings of deities, many other important ones, including the likes of Hades, Iris and Nereus do not.
All aspects of the cosmos were represented by a deity, so Hades had his own realm in the Underworld, and there he was joined by a number of different daemons and spirits.
All aspects of water had a deity associated with them, with rivers represented by Potamoi, lakes and springs linked with various nymphs, as were woods and forests.
Even the Olympian gods did not live in isolation upon Mount Olympus, for they were joined by the likes of Hebe, a daughter of Zeus and Hera, and Ariadne, the wife of Dionysus.
The goddesses of Mount Olympus had nymphs as attendants, Hephaestus had the Cyclopes helping in his workshops, and entertainment was laid on by the Muses and the Graces.
